BigXthaPlug has become one of the most recognizable new voices connected to the modern Texas rap movement. Known for his deep voice, direct storytelling, Southern influences, and unmistakable Dallas identity, the rapper has built a rapidly expanding audience through songs, albums, collaborations, and live performances. For many listeners discovering his music, one of the first questions is simple: how old is BigXthaPlug?
The answer is that BigXthaPlug is 28 years old in 2026. His real name is Xavier Landum, and he was born on May 12, 1998, in Dallas, Texas. Multiple established music and entertainment databases, including Apple Music, AllMusic, IMDb, and MusicBrainz, list the same birth date.
The interest surrounding BigXthaPlug age goes beyond a single number. His mature vocal delivery, life experiences, and confident approach to storytelling can make him seem older than his actual age. His career also developed quickly, making his professional timeline especially interesting for fans who want to understand how a Dallas artist born in 1998 became an increasingly prominent name in contemporary hip-hop.
This guide explores his age, birthday, real name, hometown, early life, music career, major projects, artistic style, family background, collaborations, and the milestones that have shaped his rise.
BigXthaPlug Age at a Glance
The most reliable answer to the question “How old is BigXthaPlug?” is 28 years old as of October 2026. Xavier Landum was born on May 12, 1998, meaning he celebrated his 28th birthday on May 12, 2026. His next birthday will be May 12, 2027, when he turns 29. Apple Music, AllMusic, IMDb, and MusicBrainz independently identify May 12, 1998, as his birth date.
For readers researching BigXthaPlug age, the important distinction is between information published before and after his birthday. A biography created before May 12, 2026, could correctly describe him as 27 at the time it was written. After that date, however, he became 28. That explains why older pages can sometimes create apparent contradictions when someone searches his age today.

Who Is BigXthaPlug?
BigXthaPlug is the professional name of Xavier Landum, a Dallas-born rapper, songwriter, and record producer whose music draws heavily from Southern hip-hop and Texas culture. AllMusic describes him as a deep-voiced Texas rapper with a percussive flow and narrative weight, while Apple Music identifies his work with hip-hop and places his hometown in Dallas.
The significance of BigXthaPlug age becomes clearer when his background is considered. He was born in 1998, began releasing music professionally in 2019, and reached a much wider audience through “Texas” and later “Mmhmm.” His rise therefore happened relatively quickly. Rather than following a decades-long path before finding an audience, he developed a distinct identity and connected with listeners while still in his twenties.
BigXthaPlug Birthday and Birthplace
BigXthaPlug’s birthday is May 12, and his birth year is 1998. He was born in Dallas, Texas, a city that has played a central role in both his personal identity and his artistic development. Major music databases consistently identify May 12, 1998, as his date of birth, making the basic answer about BigXthaPlug age unusually well documented.
Dallas is more than a location attached to his biography. Texas culture appears repeatedly throughout his music, imagery, sound, and public identity. Apple Music describes “Texas” as the song that helped kick-start his career, while his later projects continued to incorporate Southern rap traditions and country influences.
BigXthaPlug Real Name
The rapper’s real name is Xavier Landum. Although most fans know him exclusively by his stage name, his birth name appears in established biographical records and is useful when distinguishing him from similarly named artists or informal references such as “Big X the Plug.”
Knowing his real name also helps explain why searches for BigXthaPlug age can produce inconsistent-looking results. Some websites use the stage name, others use Xavier Landum, and some use variations such as “Big X Tha Plug.” These phrases refer to the same Dallas artist, but the spelling and spacing can differ across websites.
Why BigXthaPlug Age Gets So Much Attention
Celebrity age searches are rarely just about mathematics. Fans often use age to understand where an artist sits within a career timeline, especially when that artist appears to have achieved significant success quickly. BigXthaPlug is a particularly interesting example because his voice and subject matter can give listeners the impression that he is older than 28.
His delivery has a deep, forceful quality, and his songs often approach subjects involving family, hardship, ambition, responsibility, and personal history. That combination can create an image of an artist with decades of experience, even though his documented birth date places him firmly in his twenties until May 2028.
BigXthaPlug’s Early Life
Before the major commercial attention surrounding his music, Xavier Landum experienced circumstances that later became part of the story surrounding his artistic identity. Public biographies describe Dallas and the surrounding Texas environment as important parts of his upbringing. His early experiences and challenges eventually informed the personal storytelling that became one of the defining characteristics of his music.
Another important part of his early story is football. IMDb’s biographical information identifies him as a former football player, while Famous Birthdays describes a period in which he pursued football and briefly attended Minnesota’s Crown College. His path eventually shifted away from athletics and toward music, illustrating how his career developed through several different stages before his public breakthrough.
BigXthaPlug and Football
Football was an important early interest for BigXthaPlug before music became his primary professional direction. Accounts of his background indicate that he pursued the sport and briefly played at the college level. That period is significant because it demonstrates that his eventual music career was not necessarily an obvious destination from the beginning.
When discussing BigXthaPlug age, his football background provides useful chronological context. A person born in 1998 was still in his teens and early twenties during the period when he was developing through school and athletics. His eventual movement into professional music happened after those earlier ambitions, showing that his career was shaped through a sequence of changes rather than one predetermined path.
How BigXthaPlug Started Making Music
BigXthaPlug began releasing music in 2019, according to Apple Music. His early work established the foundation for a style that would later become associated with Dallas rap, Southern hip-hop, trap, and country-rap influences.
The timing matters when considering BigXthaPlug age. He was born in May 1998, so he was about 21 when he began releasing music in 2019. His early twenties therefore represented the beginning of a professional transition that would eventually take him from a developing local artist to a nationally recognized rapper.
The Breakthrough of “Texas”
“Texas” became a pivotal song in BigXthaPlug’s career. Apple Music describes it as the Lone Star State anthem that helped kick-start his career and notes that the song emerged in 2022. Its sound blended his deep vocal delivery with country-leaning musical elements, helping establish a distinctive identity rather than simply placing him inside a generic rap category.
The success of “Texas” is especially important for understanding BigXthaPlug age because he was still only 24 when the song helped elevate his profile. That is a relatively young age for an artist to develop such a recognizable public identity. The song also demonstrated that regional authenticity could become a strength rather than a limitation.
BigXthaPlug and the Rise of “Mmhmm”
“Mmhmm” became another major milestone in BigXthaPlug’s rise. AllMusic identifies the song as a charting breakthrough connected to his 2023 EP The Biggest, following his emergence through the Texas rap scene.
The song helped expand his audience beyond listeners who already followed Dallas or Texas rap. As more people discovered his music, searches for BigXthaPlug age, real name, birthplace, family, and biography naturally increased. His identity became part of the appeal: fans were not only interested in individual songs but also in the person behind the distinctive voice.
Amar and the Meaning Behind the Album
BigXthaPlug released his debut album Amar in 2023. Apple Music explains that the project was named after his son and incorporated Southern rap sounds associated with Dallas, Houston, Louisiana, and Memphis.
The album represented an important transition from emerging rapper to established recording artist. BigXthaPlug age was 24 when Amar arrived, meaning his debut album came at a stage when many artists are still experimenting with identity. In his case, the project helped consolidate the storytelling, regional character, and vocal presence that listeners had already begun recognizing.
Take Care and a Bigger Audience
In 2024, BigXthaPlug released Take Care, his second solo album. AllMusic notes that the project became his first Billboard Top Ten entry, representing a major step forward in his commercial trajectory.
At this point, BigXthaPlug age was 26, yet his professional profile had changed dramatically from the beginning of the decade. The progression from releasing music in 2019 to achieving a Top Ten album several years later illustrates the speed of his rise. It also shows why his biography attracts attention: his career milestones are concentrated into a relatively short period.
I Hope You’re Happy and Country-Rap Influence
BigXthaPlug continued expanding his sound with I Hope You’re Happy, released in 2025. Apple Music describes the project as embracing a country-rap combination and notes collaborations involving artists including Darius Rucker, Jelly Roll, Bailey Zimmerman, Ella Langley, and Luke Combs.
This evolution is important because it shows that BigXthaPlug has not limited himself to one narrow interpretation of Southern rap. His music can move between hip-hop, country textures, Texas identity, personal storytelling, and broader crossover sounds. At 27 during the album’s release period, he was already demonstrating an ability to reach audiences outside the traditional boundaries of rap.
BigXthaPlug’s Music Style
BigXthaPlug’s sound is strongly associated with his deep voice, rhythmic delivery, Southern influences, and storytelling. AllMusic categorizes his styles across contemporary rap, Texas rap, Southern rap, country rap, gangsta rap, and hardcore rap.
His voice is perhaps the easiest characteristic to recognize. It gives his recordings a physical presence and helps distinguish him from artists using lighter or faster vocal approaches. That vocal identity also contributes to why BigXthaPlug age can surprise new listeners: the sound conveys maturity and authority that listeners may not immediately associate with a 28-year-old artist.
How Dallas Influenced BigXthaPlug
Dallas is central to BigXthaPlug’s public identity. His birthplace, musical influences, and the title of one of his breakthrough songs all connect him closely with Texas. Apple Music specifically presents “Texas” as a career-defining song and identifies Dallas as his hometown.
That regional connection gives his music a sense of place. Instead of removing local references to appeal to a broad audience, BigXthaPlug has generally used his Texas identity as an asset. This approach mirrors a broader trend in modern hip-hop, where regional sounds and local culture can become powerful foundations for national and international audiences.
BigXthaPlug’s Voice and Delivery
The most immediate feature of BigXthaPlug’s music is his voice. AllMusic characterizes him as a deep-voiced rapper with a percussive flow and narrative gravitas, while Apple Music emphasizes his distinctive deep drawl.
A strong vocal identity can be especially valuable in a crowded music market. Thousands of songs can appear on streaming platforms every day, but an instantly recognizable voice creates a shortcut between the artist and the listener. In BigXthaPlug’s case, the vocal sound became part of the brand itself, helping people identify his music even before they knew the song title.
BigXthaPlug’s Storytelling Approach
Storytelling is another defining element of his work. Rather than relying exclusively on conventional rap themes, his music frequently connects ambition with personal experiences, family, hardship, and the realities of his upbringing. Apple Music notes that his work discusses childhood trauma, incarceration, and his reasons for making music.
That approach gives additional meaning to BigXthaPlug age. His biography is not simply a timeline of birthdays and releases. The experiences reflected in his music help explain why a relatively young rapper can project such a developed sense of perspective. His songs function partly as entertainment and partly as personal documentation.
BigXthaPlug’s Family Life
BigXthaPlug is also known for speaking publicly about fatherhood. Established biographical sources report that he has children, and his debut album Amar was named after his son. IMDb also identifies him as a father.
His family life is relevant to understanding his music because fatherhood appears as part of the emotional framework surrounding his career. The subject is not merely celebrity trivia. It helps explain why responsibility, providing for family, and building a better future can appear alongside themes of success and ambition in his artistic identity.
BigXthaPlug and His Son Amar
The name Amar carries particular importance in BigXthaPlug’s catalog because his 2023 debut album was named after his son. Apple Music explicitly identifies this connection and describes the album as a personal project rooted in Southern musical traditions.
For fans researching BigXthaPlug age, this is another useful timeline marker. He became a father relatively early in adulthood, and by his mid-twenties he had incorporated fatherhood into one of the most important projects of his career. That relationship between personal life and music helps make his biography more cohesive.
BigXthaPlug and His Personal Growth
One reason BigXthaPlug’s career is interesting is that his music has evolved alongside his personal life. Early songs helped establish his Texas identity, while later albums explored broader questions involving family, success, responsibility, and the pressures that come with increased recognition.
At 28, BigXthaPlug is still relatively early in his career compared with many established artists. That means the story attached to BigXthaPlug age is still developing. His current catalog can be viewed as the foundation of a much longer career rather than a finished artistic biography.
Major BigXthaPlug Career Milestones
The career timeline provides a clearer picture than age alone. He began releasing music in 2019, gained substantial attention through “Texas” in 2022, released Amar and The Biggest in 2023, followed with Take Care in 2024, and expanded into country-rap territory with I Hope You’re Happy in 2025. AllMusic and Apple Music document this progression.
| Year | Career milestone | Approximate age |
|---|---|---|
| 1998 | Born in Dallas, Texas | 0 |
| 2019 | Began releasing music | 21 |
| 2022 | “Texas” helped expand his profile | 24 |
| 2023 | Released Amar | 25 |
| 2023 | The Biggest and “Mmhmm” breakthrough | 25 |
| 2024 | Released Take Care | 26 |
| 2025 | Released I Hope You’re Happy | 27 |
| 2026 | Reached age 28 | 28 |
| 2027 | Expected to turn 29 | 29 |
BigXthaPlug’s Collaborations
Collaboration has become an important part of BigXthaPlug’s expanding profile. His catalog includes work with artists from rap and country, reflecting the increasingly fluid boundaries between genres. Apple Music specifically highlights collaborations connected to his country-oriented work, while other music databases document his broader recording activity.
These collaborations matter because they show how his Texas-rooted identity can translate into different musical environments. Instead of treating genre boundaries as fixed, BigXthaPlug has increasingly demonstrated that a recognizable voice and authentic regional identity can work across rap, country, and crossover records.
Why Fans Search for BigXthaPlug Age
Searches for BigXthaPlug age are part of a broader pattern in online music fandom. When an artist becomes popular quickly, listeners often want to understand how old the person was during key career moments. They may compare the artist’s age with album releases, viral songs, relationships, family milestones, or major collaborations.
In BigXthaPlug’s case, the question is particularly understandable because his career accelerated during his twenties. Someone discovering “Texas” or “Mmhmm” without knowing his background might assume he had been recording professionally for much longer. His actual birth date provides a useful reality check.
Is BigXthaPlug Older Than He Looks?
BigXthaPlug can sound older than his chronological age because of his low vocal register and the mature themes in his music. Neither his voice nor his lyrical perspective, however, changes the documented birth date. He was born May 12, 1998, and turned 28 in 2026.
This is one of the simplest explanations for why BigXthaPlug age sometimes surprises listeners. Age and perceived maturity are not the same thing. A performer can develop a commanding voice, professional confidence, and extensive life experience relatively early, particularly when those experiences become central to their creative work.
BigXthaPlug’s Genre and Musical Identity
BigXthaPlug occupies an interesting position between several musical traditions. His core identity is rooted in hip-hop, but his catalog also incorporates Southern rap, Texas rap, trap, and country rap. AllMusic specifically lists those styles among his musical associations.
This hybrid approach is strategically useful as well as creatively distinctive. Hip-hop provides the foundation, Texas culture provides authenticity, and country influences create crossover possibilities. His work demonstrates how modern artists can maintain a strong regional identity while reaching audiences that do not necessarily listen to only one genre.
BigXthaPlug’s Career Compared With His Age
A useful way to understand BigXthaPlug’s career is to compare milestones with his age. At approximately 21, he began releasing music. Around 24, “Texas” became a major turning point. By 25, he had released his debut album and was associated with the breakthrough of “Mmhmm.” At 26, Take Care became his first Billboard Top Ten album.
That timeline explains why BigXthaPlug age has become such a popular biographical search. His story compresses several meaningful career stages into less than a decade. Rather than being famous first and gradually becoming established, he moved from early releases to national attention and significant chart success relatively quickly.
The Importance of Authenticity in BigXthaPlug’s Music
Authenticity is a major reason BigXthaPlug connects with listeners. His music does not separate his regional identity from his artistic identity. Dallas, Texas, Southern culture, family experiences, and personal history all contribute to the world presented in his songs.
This authenticity also helps explain why his audience continues to care about biographical questions such as BigXthaPlug age. Fans often become interested in the artist behind the music when songs feel personal. The more listeners connect with an artist’s story, the more likely they are to search for background information about the person’s upbringing, family, age, and career.
Common Misconceptions About BigXthaPlug Age
One common misconception comes from outdated articles. If a page was published before May 12, 2026, it may describe BigXthaPlug as 27. That information could have been accurate when published but is no longer current after his 28th birthday.
Another source of confusion is spelling. Searchers may type “Big X the Plug,” “Big X Tha Plug,” or “BigX ThaPlug.” These variations can lead to different pages, some of which may have inconsistent biographies. Established music sources consistently identify Xavier Landum and May 12, 1998, providing the clearest reference point.
BigXthaPlug’s Public Image
BigXthaPlug’s public image combines music, Texas culture, personal storytelling, and an increasingly broad commercial profile. His stage name is immediately recognizable, while his voice gives his recordings an identifiable character. Together, those elements have helped him develop a brand that extends beyond any single song.
His public identity has also expanded as his career has progressed. Early recognition came largely through Texas-rooted music, but later projects and collaborations introduced him to listeners across rap and country audiences. That expansion is one reason his age and career timeline are useful topics for understanding his overall development.
BigXthaPlug and Modern Texas Rap
Texas has a long history of influential hip-hop scenes, and BigXthaPlug belongs to a newer generation continuing that tradition. His Dallas background and Southern musical influences connect him with a regional culture that has repeatedly produced artists capable of shaping national rap trends.
His approach is not simply about copying earlier Texas sounds. Instead, he combines familiar regional elements with contemporary production, melodic influences, storytelling, and country crossover. That balance allows his music to feel connected to Texas while remaining relevant to modern streaming audiences.
BigXthaPlug’s Impact on Younger Artists
As BigXthaPlug’s profile has grown, his career also demonstrates a possible route for emerging regional artists. His success shows that an artist does not necessarily have to abandon a local identity to reach a national audience. A distinctive hometown perspective can become part of the reason listeners pay attention.
The lesson is particularly relevant to artists in their twenties. BigXthaPlug age was only 21 when he began releasing music, yet several years later his work had reached a much larger audience. His trajectory illustrates the value of developing a recognizable sound rather than trying to sound identical to whichever artist is currently popular.
A Closer Look at His Career Development
The progression from 2019 to 2026 is more informative than any isolated statistic. The early stage involved finding an audience and developing a sound. The “Texas” period established a recognizable regional identity. Amar gave that identity a larger album format, while Take Care demonstrated increased commercial reach. I Hope You’re Happy showed a willingness to explore country-rap territory and collaborate across genres.
This progression suggests that BigXthaPlug’s career is defined by expansion rather than repetition. He has kept recognizable characteristics—especially his voice and Texas connection—while changing the environments in which those characteristics appear. That is often how artists build longevity instead of relying on one viral moment.
What BigXthaPlug Age Tells Us About His Career
On its own, BigXthaPlug age is simply 28. In context, however, the number tells a much more interesting story. He reached several significant milestones while still in his twenties, including a major breakthrough song, multiple projects, collaborations, and his first Billboard Top Ten album.
That context also makes it important not to treat age as a measure of artistic maturity. BigXthaPlug’s music reflects experiences and perspectives that cannot be reduced to a birthday. His career demonstrates how quickly an artist can develop when personal storytelling, distinctive vocals, regional identity, and audience connection work together.
BigXthaPlug’s Future Career Potential
At 28, BigXthaPlug remains young enough to have substantial room for artistic evolution. His existing catalog already covers several directions, including Texas rap, Southern hip-hop, trap, and country-rap crossover. Future projects could continue developing any of these areas or introduce entirely new influences.
The strongest foundation is his identity. His deep voice, Dallas roots, storytelling ability, and willingness to experiment provide recognizable characteristics that can travel across different sounds. If those elements continue evolving rather than becoming repetitive, the next phase of his career could be substantially broader than the breakthrough period that made BigXthaPlug age such a popular search.
What Makes BigXthaPlug Different?
Many emerging rappers compete for attention by emphasizing speed, technical complexity, or viral trends. BigXthaPlug has built his identity differently. His voice is slow, heavy, and immediately recognizable, while his music often emphasizes narrative and atmosphere rather than trying to overwhelm the listener with constant technical changes.
That difference can be strategically powerful. A memorable artist does not necessarily need the most complicated formula. Sometimes a clear identity is more valuable. BigXthaPlug’s career suggests that listeners respond strongly when an artist sounds like a specific person from a specific place rather than an interchangeable performer.
A Quote That Captures His Musical Identity
AllMusic describes BigXthaPlug as “a deep-voiced Texas rapper with a percussive flow, narrative gravitas”, a concise description that captures several of the characteristics most associated with his music.
That description is useful because it explains why the rapper stands out without reducing his music to one genre. His sound combines vocal weight, rhythmic control, storytelling, and regional identity. Those characteristics have remained recognizable even as his projects have moved into broader commercial and country-influenced territory.
BigXthaPlug Age in the Context of 2026
As of October 2026, BigXthaPlug is 28. He turned 28 on May 12, 2026, and will turn 29 on May 12, 2027. The birth date is consistently documented by major music and entertainment databases, including Apple Music, AllMusic, IMDb, and MusicBrainz.
The 2026 context is important because age changes with time. A page written in 2025 might correctly identify him as 27, while a current article needs to account for his May 2026 birthday. This is one reason responsible biography writing should provide both the birth date and the current age instead of relying on a static number.
BigXthaPlug Age and His Birthday Timeline
His birthday falls on May 12, meaning his age changes relatively early in the calendar year compared with people born later in the year. He was 27 from May 12, 2025, through May 11, 2026, and became 28 on May 12, 2026.
That simple timeline can resolve much of the confusion surrounding BigXthaPlug age. Anyone searching before his 2026 birthday would have found 27 as the current age, while anyone searching after the birthday should use 28. His next major age milestone will arrive on May 12, 2027, when he turns 29.
BigXthaPlug’s Place in Contemporary Hip-Hop
BigXthaPlug represents a generation of artists who can build audiences through a mixture of streaming, social platforms, collaborations, and regional cultural identity. The modern music ecosystem allows an artist from Dallas to develop a distinctive local sound and reach listeners far beyond Texas.
His trajectory also demonstrates how genre boundaries have become more flexible. A rapper can incorporate country sounds without leaving hip-hop behind, and a Texas identity can become an international marketing advantage. BigXthaPlug’s work sits comfortably within that changing environment.
Why His Age Matters to Fans
Fans often ask about age because biography adds meaning to music. Knowing that BigXthaPlug is 28 allows listeners to place his releases into a timeline and understand how quickly his career developed.
It also puts his achievements into perspective. The rapper began releasing music around the age of 21, achieved major attention in his mid-twenties, and reached a Billboard Top Ten with Take Care at 26. Those milestones help explain why BigXthaPlug age remains a high-interest topic among people discovering his catalog.
BigXthaPlug’s Career Lessons for Emerging Artists
One of the clearest lessons from his career is the importance of identity. His breakthrough did not require him to hide where he came from. Instead, Texas became part of the product, the storytelling, the sound, and the visual identity surrounding his music.
Another lesson is patience combined with experimentation. He began releasing music in 2019, but broader recognition did not arrive immediately. The years between his first releases and his breakthrough allowed him to develop a recognizable voice and approach. His story therefore offers a useful reminder that career growth is often cumulative.
BigXthaPlug’s Growing Legacy
It is too early to describe BigXthaPlug’s full legacy because his career is still developing. At 28, he has already created a recognizable catalog and achieved major milestones, but many of his most important creative years may still be ahead.
What can already be said is that he has established a clear place within contemporary Texas rap. His deep voice, Dallas roots, personal storytelling, and genre-crossing collaborations have created an identity that is difficult to confuse with another artist. The future will determine how large that influence ultimately becomes.
Conclusion
The answer to the central question is straightforward: BigXthaPlug is 28 years old in 2026. Born Xavier Landum on May 12, 1998, in Dallas, Texas, he has developed from an aspiring young artist into a major contemporary voice associated with Texas and Southern hip-hop. Multiple established sources confirm his birth date, while Apple Music and AllMusic document the broader progression of his musical career.
Understanding BigXthaPlug age becomes much more meaningful when placed beside his career timeline. He began releasing music around 21, gained significant attention with “Texas” around 24, released Amar and achieved the “Mmhmm” breakthrough at 25, reached a major chart milestone with Take Care at 26, and continued expanding into country-rap territory with I Hope You’re Happy at 27.
His age may answer the immediate search question, but his story explains why the question is interesting. BigXthaPlug has packed a considerable amount of artistic development into his twenties. With his Dallas identity, distinctive voice, personal storytelling, and willingness to cross genre boundaries, his career remains one to watch as he moves into his late twenties and beyond.
